Laser hair removal & aesthetic skin care for ladies and men

Laser treatment is a safe, and non-surgical solution for a younger, fresher looking appearance if your skin is becoming less firm/flexible/smooth than it used to be.

Both the pleasures and stresses of life, along with simple passage of time, tend to cause our skin to appear older. While numerous treatments from simple creams to major surgery exist to improve facial flaws, skin specialists have always sought dramatic improvement with low risk and no ‘down time’. Additionally, many conventional treatment options can only address one condition at a time, while they entail a prolonged recovery, considerable pain, and potential side effects.

As we age skin inevitably becomes less firm, flexible and smooth, especially the skin on the face. For some people the effects of ageing on their skin can be much worse. For example, smoking, consumption of a lot of alcohol, love of sunbathing can all take its toll on your skin. This results in more wrinkles, fine lines, sun spots, or maybe a general reduction in the fresh appearance of the skin.

Younger skins replace their cells every 21 – 40 days but this happens more slowly as we age. Also the rate of replacement falls by about half. As more cells accumulate on the surface, the skin can feel dense and rough, with dry patches. Collagen levels also fall – this is the skin’s scaffolding and helps to support other tissues and blood vessels. It also holds the skin together.

Our advanced cutting edge laser treatments give a powerful youthful rejuvenation boost to the face, neck, decolletage and hands… in fact, almost anywhere on the body.

Questions & Answers

  1. How does the laser treatment work?

The laser treatment focuses intense light energy painlessly onto your skin to leave all skin types looking firmer and smoother by stimulating the fibroblasts that create collagen.

As we grow older these fibroblasts diminish and the collagen becomes 'mushy' in texture which creates wrinkles. In this way after it has stimulated the collagen, our skin rejuvenation laser treatment gives a superb overall treatment that tightens the skin and decreases very fine lines.

The treatment works by directing a beam of light to an irregularity in the skin, such as enlarged blood vessels or pigmentation due to sun damage. This removes the abnormality without affecting the epidermis, while stimulating collagen production to tighten the surrounding tissue, resulting in improved skin texture and reduced signs of aging.

  2. Is it permanent?

It is, of course, impossible to reverse the ageing process. With this in mind your expectations will be discussed with our Laser Practitioner at your initial consultation.

  3. How does the treatment feel?

The treatment causes minimal discomfort and any initial soreness is easily alleviated with a cold air cooling system. No anaesthesia is required though and most people describe the discomfort as moderate and acceptable, not unlike a quick pin prick.

  4. How many treatments are necessary?

At your consultation you will have a test patch to see how your skin responds to this treatment. This is a gentle and ‘no-downtime’ treatment so that you can return to your normal activities within a few hours. Although excellent results can be obtained after one session, the effects are cumulative and generally 3-5 sessions are required at 2-6 week intervals.

The average treatment takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Results may be seen after the first few treatments. The treatment can be performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of local anaesthetics or gel.

  5. What should I expect after the treatments, and are there any risks involved?

    Rest assured, risks are minimal.

Redness and a slight warming sensation are normal after treatment. A cooling pack is applied after treatment to calm the skin. You may see a darkening of any pigmented spots before they flake off, leading to a more even skin tone. Tightening of the skin should increase over the following month as new collagen is produced within the dermis.

You’ll be able to return to normal activities immediately, though sunscreen should be applied as a post-treatment precaution.

On occasions the skin may be quite red and slightly swollen after treatment but this usually subsides quickly. Very rarely a small blister may from and there can be temporary lightening or darkening of the skin. However, most people experience no side effects and any skin reaction usually disappears within a few hours
