Facial Problems, Thread Veins and Leg Veins

Red, blue or purple veins on the leg or face can result from sun exposure, use of oral contraception, hormone therapy, age or genetics.

Facial problems like red flushing (Rosacea), thread veins and red spots can be easily eradicated with minimal discomfort in just a few quick and simple laser treatments.

Rosacea (a chronic skin condition which causes flushing of the face, neck and even the chest) – this condition may look similar to sunburn or blushing.  In fact enlarged blood vessels cause this condition. It can also be set off by some medicines/chemicals, and also by consumption of alcohol and spicy foods, or by extreme hot and cold temperatures.  We use laser to provide a long term solution to Rosacea and put a painless end to loss of self-confidence and self-esteem.

Vascular birthmarks – these are clusters of red/purple blood vessels close to your skin’s surface (these include “port wine stains” and “strawberry” birthmarks)….untreated they may thicken and darken as time goes by.

Thread veins are usually found on the cheeks, nose and legs.  They are fine veins which are highly visible through the skin and can show as purple, red or blue.  Additionally they can be dilated in their appearance.

We use painless laser treatment to treat thread veins which absorb the focused laser light and are destroyed painlessly in a non-invasive process.

Find peace of mind from our non-invasive solution, and enjoy your new-found skin…clear of imperfections.

Questions & Answers

  1. How does the laser treatment work?

The laser treatment focuses intense light energy painlessly onto your skin so that unwanted pigmentations and thread veins are destroyed. We use a powerful Nd-YAG laser system for this purpose.

The Nd:YAG laser emits a prescribed dose of energy to the vein. The laser selectively targets the problem veins while sparing surrounding areas.

This can be used for superficial and small blood vessels, broken capillaries, thread veins and spider veins.

The 1064 nm wavelength produced by the Nd-YAG laser is excellent for treatment and clearance of superficial and deep telangiectasias and reticular veins of the legs.

  2. Is it permanent?

In most cases the treatment is, indeed, permanent. New veins can occur, however, in other areas and may need further treatment.

Laser treatment may not, in some cases, completely take away your blemishes. In those cases, however, they will be significantly paler and considerably less noticeable. For most Clients the results will indeed be permanent and exactly what they hoped for.

Some Clients will see changes taking place after only one treatment session. You are advised, however, that it normally takes about three weeks after the treatment for fading to begin and the finer thread veins to disappear.

Naturally, your treatment should be continued until thread veins have completely faded for the best results.

  3. How does the treatment feel?

The treatment causes minimal discomfort, sometimes described as a mild stinging. Cold air is blown during the procedure to cool and numb the skin, removing the need for any anaesthetic.

Treatment is mildly uncomfortable, and most people describe the discomfort as moderate and acceptable, not unlike a quick pin prick.

  4. How many treatments are necessary?

Treatments may vary depending on your specific needs. The number of treatments required will be based on the body area being treated, and your skin tone.

Typically only two or three treatments are required and the results can be seen in 3–4 weeks. Treatment time usually varies between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the size of the area.

  5. What should I expect after the treatments, and are there any risks involved?

    Rest assured, risks are minimal.

After treatment you may notice on the treated area a hot sensation as if you had slight sunburn (normally disappears after a few hours) and possibly some mild bruising (this will disappear within 3 to 14 days). These are entirely normal, and permanent side-effects are very rare.

Make-up can be applied to facial areas directly after treatment.

Support stockings may be found helpful directly after treatment on the legs.

Before and during treatments you should avoid sun exposure and use a high-factor sun block (SPF30) during your course of treatments.

The skin that surrounds the lesion may appear red immediately after treatment. Most people experience no other side effects and the redness usually disappears within a few hours to a few days. Very rarely a small blister may form or the skin may become temporarily lighter or darker.
